Prufrock Meets the Strenuous Briefness

“You’ve written your muscular love poem to a muscular painter.”

Yes T S

With your peaches and newspapers, briny
Smoke and dust, billow and roll down city blocks.
You are a sensual one, pertaining to the senses.
Almost every word has its own smell.

Raising dingy shades on a vast continent,
Horses, old women, hypocrisy, anguish
Cigarettes and vacant lots. Smoke and dust
Fill our mouths and

hurry up please

I have learned to care and not to care.
I have learned to sit still.

*

O e e

You’ve written your muscular love poem to a muscular painter
Of angles and eyes.
Of anger and creamy thighs.

I have woken up inside your hair-thin tints of yellow dawn,
I have also drowned in buttery sun poured through
a kitchen window
I have strolled through your women-coloured twilights.
I have also stumbled blindly through pregnant air

You have your flash, your bag of trick y tricks
But when I conjure you, I think not of busy monsters, nor
Of large together coloured instances.
Or even of

tic snow toc.

Instead I think of a little church At peace with nature, a brittle swoon, Then (of solongs and, ashes)

*

You both liked roses and female smells in shuttered rooms.
You both loved Spring best and she loved you back.

hurry up please

Fierce and fragile, angular curves,
You both wrote of churches and rain,
Prayers. Dust alighting like

it’s time

7 random things

“I was eating a bowl of oatmeal this morning when i came to the realization that i don’t even like oatmeal.”

1. I was eating a bowl of oatmeal this morning when i came to the realization that i don’t even like oatmeal. Sometimes i’m dense and it takes me a while to grasp simple things like this (um, macaroni & cheese). I think i might like the apple instant oatmeal, but really i prefer grits.

2. My back is killing me again. My posture has gone to hell. I should get a massage. I should go to the gym more.

3. I like to buy my clinique city base compact foundation spf 15 during a clinique bonus time because i can turn around and sell the gift with purchase stuff on ebay. A few times, it’s even paid for my original purchase. Oh ebay, how i love thee. Though i’ve been spoiled to the point where i now think twice about paying retail price for anything.

4. Birds fly around in formation right outside my window and sometimes it can be startling to see bodies flying at you.

5. I’ve been up since 3:30 this morning, so i’m probably not making a lot of sense. I wanted to go out last night but was too sleep deprived to seriously consider it. So i fell asleep reading instead. I must be turning 90 on the 24th.

6. Broken social scene’s “anthems for a seventeen-year old girl” has slowly become one of my favorite songs. It sounds even better on my ipod. Thanks adam!

7. Although i still adore modest mouse’s older albums and i’m happy they’ve found success, the final straw is the kidz bop rendition of “float on”. No! That is simply unacceptable. So now when people ask me what my favorite band is, i don’t know what to say.
